The skin of the egg tart (S$2) was so light and flaky! It has this oil/lard taste with super smooth and light steamed egg liked texture~ not the best egg tart but i guess it’s above average~ mung bean pastry was pretty good with floss! Love this kinda denser moist mung bean filling as compared to those powdery kind! Black sesame cake tart was pretty unique with egg tart crust, traditional cake and black sesame paste! It’s not bad, but find the crust unnecessary 😂 spent a total of S$8.20~
Try this designer pastry store right in the middle of Chinatown. The diamond shaped egg tart was delicious and the other pastries are tastefully displayed. The owner was super nice and interrupted what she was doing to explain how the egg tart was different from a Portuguese nata (the latter is made witty milk).
Tongheng - Known for their traditional catonese pastries. I wanted to try out tang’s iconic egg tart. The egg tart are soft and fluffy. It melts but i didnt like the raw egg smell! The mooncake was winner for me.
Located right beside Maxwell Food Centre. Egg tarts are definitely savory. Soft, flaky, and slightly crispy, with soft and fluffy pudding in the middle. Very tasty egg tarts and definitely top of their game.
Too bad they don't accept card.
Famous for their egg tarts and you can see why. We came back for more after getting a box of their goodies... the guy in the store was super helpful in choosing what to try.
Recommend getting there before the best items are sold out for the day.
The coconut tart shreds are too long, and the coconut taste not strong enough in the tarts.
The taste of the original tarts is still the best, especially the crust.
Though I am not a egg tart lover, I find their egg tart really good - the pastry is delightfully crusty and buttery, thin and light, and the egg custard rich and milky. While it may be slightly more expensive than some other egg tarts, it is worthwhile for that occasional indulgence. Their other pastries are also good for a afternoon high tea at home afternoon.
walked past and was attracted to their display of egg tarts. tried to their sesame paste, which was slightly watery, but it was a nice spot to rest, in the midst of the hot afternoon sun. One of the shop ladies was very friendly, and explained a bit about the shop’s history and that they used to serve oats back in the day.
